Since 1980, the MCS has relied on support and volunteerism from our community of families, faculty, staff, grandparents, and friends. This tradition of giving has helped the school to nurture and inspire Maria Montessori’s vision for “development of children as active, peaceful, life-long learners and global citizens.” Without the active support of parents, grandparents, and friends of the school, MCS would not have the campus it now enjoys.
Being a part of a school community is a rewarding experience. Your time, talents, and financial support are all important, and we encourage every parent to give in some way.
Every family is expected to contribute 12 hours of volunteer time during each academic year. This can be fulfilled by serving on formal committees, or organizing or attending volunteer events such as Garden Day, the Pancake Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation lunches, and many more. Chaperoning class outings, attending parent information sessions, helping with Open House, working on the Auction, sharing your family’s background at holidays—all these and many more are ways to enrich the experience children get at MCS.
The MCS also depends on financial support to fill the gap between tuition income and costs to keep our tuition as affordable as possible. The Annual Fund asks each family to make a yearly contribution. Participation, at any level, is one way to say “thank you” to the teachers and staff and to support the school.
Meeting the long-term needs of any school is an ongoing process. MCS today owes a huge debt to a group of dedicated parents and school personnel who provided the vision and funding to make our programs and campus a reality. Our Board of Trustees works to ensure that the MCS is able to provide the best possible Montessori education to the next generation of our students. They work towards this goal via the Strategic Plan and capital giving.
MCS has been the beneficiary of generous contributions to our capital campaigns. Charitable gifts provide resources and facilities that help distinguish us from other local schools and further our adherence to a strong, accredited Montessori environment. Having recently completed the Campus Plan, MCS will plan for the next phase of its growth to make use of a recently acquired adjoining property.
At MCS, we firmly believe that your involvement and support make the difference in our community. Your financial contributions are gratefully received and acknowledged by the school.
