Family School Organization (FSO)

Who is the FSO?
 
We are ALL the FSO! We’re a strong and active group of parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, family friends, administration, and staff who strive to provide a wide variety of community-building and service activities to improve the overall experience of families at our school.
 
What does the FSO do?
 
We head fundraising efforts for specific projects and programs such as new outdoor learning environments, playground improvements, and an activity bus. Fundraising is achieved through large, planned events such as the annual auction as well as smaller fundraising activities throughout the school year.
 
The FSO also coordinates community-building events such as socials, Cultural Festival, and our annual Pancake Breakfast.
 
How can you be involved?

Online and Store Fundraisers
Raise money for the MCS FSO and feed your family locally sourced, healthy, organic food! Sign up for Bella Bean Organics farmer’s market delivery service using our code PTAMCS-DURHAM and 10% of your purchases come back to our school! Sign up for Bella Bean on their website.
MCS appreciates your efforts in raising money to support MCS and the FSO. Collect box tops from participating products and turn them into MCS. Link your Harris Teeter VIC card annually each fall. Our code is 2909. You can re-link at your local Harris Teeter at the Customer Service desk or on their website.
 
Once linked, each time you purchase certain store brand products, you will be earning money for MCS from Harris Teeter. It’s easy to do!
By using Weaver Street Market script cards, you can donate 5% of your purchases directly to the FSO. When shopping at Weaver Street Market, stop by the customer service desk and ask for a Montessori Community School pre-assigned script number. Give that number to the cashier to assign to your script card. FSO will receive a 5% donation from your total purchase.
 
Then, use this script card each time you shop at Weaver Street Market. Refill your script card as often as needed. The balance of your card will be shown on your receipt. Weaver Street Market will send this donation to the school on a quarterly basis.
